Monster

I can't think of anything more monstrous than unprovoked pre-emptive war and the resulting death and maiming of countless human beings.

Monster
Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is strangling the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole world's got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching

America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster

1970 Steppenwolf

Feet

This week I have attempted to adapt another of my kids' paintings.
My son did this watercolor for an art class assignment in high school when he was sixteen.
Mine is a 9x12 inch acrylic and ink painting on a board.
It took much more time than I anticipated and I haven't quite finished it, but I so love his imaginary cityscape that I have wanted to make my own version of it.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic, except the Okapi does have four feet.

Tattoo

This is something of a departure for me. It's a variation on a colored pencil piece my darling daughter made in art school. (Sarah's website)
Her picture is framed and on my wall and I just love it and thought I would attempt to recreate it in acrylics with some changes. I'll have a link to her piece as soon as I can take a decent picture of it, since it doesn't fit in my scanner. Here it is.

Insect

I painted this more than 15 years ago and my plan for this week's topic was to make something new using the same insect. I haven't finished it yet and it's already Thursday evening, so I'm putting this one up instead. When the new one is finished, I'll replace or add it.
