Depth

This week's Illustration Friday topic.
This is a print of a copper etching I made using a soft ground technique.

Looks great close-up! What acid did you use for etching the copper? Is that also aquatinting? Like the continuation of lines and shapes from Zebra to fences and windows. Nice one!

I'm cheering for the zebra. This made me smile!

I love the surreal feel of this picture - the zebra in a city environment.

Wonderful sense of depth, but what truly appeals to me is the strangeness of the scene! The first thing that came to mind was Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?...I was thinking about the people who kept animals on their rooftops, some real, some electric. If you haven't read this novel by Philip Dick, I recommend it. Anyway, back to your print...I don't know anything about printmaking except that it requires great skill. You combine your talent for illustration and skill in printmaking beautifully. It's a really cool illustration on many levels!

I like this drawing very much. The zebra is neat. So are the vanishing points. Keeping the picture in black and white or something close was also a good idea.
