Rain
I started this 2 weeks ago for the jungle topic but couldn't finish it that weekend, then last weekend was too beautiful and sunny to stay inside and paint.
Now we have a rainy weekend so I was able to finish this, adapted to this week's Rain theme.
The parrot was caught in a rainstorm while wearing her favorite shirt, and she waits patiently as it dries.

I love the colours in this piece, just like the nature after a good rain. The umbrellas and the drying shirt are connecting to the rain theme. Great work!
In the worlds you create, you can do anything you want! The parrot can wait patiently as its shirt dries out from the rain...and it all works! I am connecting this to rain through the idea of saturation...I just love your saturated colors...so vibrant, glowing like precious jewels. It is really great that you post your paintings large enough for us to see the details of the paint...you seem to use the acrylics a lot like watercolors in places. I just love this piece!
I was wondering where you have been! I thought you might be enjoying the summer sun and fun. This has a whimsy to it that I love and of course your colours and subject matter are always compelling and superb!!!
A beautiful parrot, I was staring at it's eye-a bit mesmerized-beautiful. The idea is fun and so creative, you always bring something thought provoking and excellent within your pieces each week, and as always the colors are fab!
looks like she wont have long to wait for ur shirt to dry seems to be a bit of a breeze comomg thru that window. Figure she got caught in an afternoon monsoon. great colors, details, ideas keep em coming.
This is one of my favourites of yours so far. Maybe it's because the subject matter is perefct for your style and use of colour. Where can I get one of those CCCP/USSR t-shirts? :)
beautiful painting!! Love your take on the theme!
I really like exploring the large version of this painting, from the scene outside the window to the umbrella stand to the eye of the parrot. Beautiful.
Hey ~ you're back! Striking piece...colors so nicely offset by those black lines. I like how you adapted this and were honest about enjoying the nice weather. It happens! I love the parrot and the story.
I love that this beautiful bird has a anchor T. A bright and exciting life this bird must have. Wonderful!
This is a beautiful painting, Jamie, the colors are so rich and the texture is stunning. The T shirt should be dry soon, I would love to see what ms.Parrot looks like as she models it.
It's worth the wait, Jaimie. :)
This is cute. I love the idea of drying clothes indoors and of course, the parrot!
Wow! This is beautiful. The colors are so vibrant! I love it.

i really like your style

like a story every week
bravo!

Very good blog...
Saludos desde Buenos Aires...
Clever parrot! And so vibrant, too.
I love your use of color.
Beautiful!!
Beautiful colors. And an adorable illo.
the colours in this are absolutely delicious!
Rain
The neatly folded parapleut,
the rising lune
tell barely any story of today.
(Like muses by Canova
made from marbled moon;
the real one neatly framed so far away.)
Across a clamoured room an open window waits,
expecting what? A flight away from rain?
The rain, amongst its other less endearing traits
is thankfully a temporary pain.
This city has adapted and adopted me.
Although its rain can feel as cold as ice
to one you'd call exotic, there's so much to see
to justify that tiny sacrifice.
So, soon as this is dry I'll put it on again,
my hammer-sickle little summer vest,
my little piece of foreign, but I'll still remain
American -
American is best.
