Lerici

I just finished this today and was going to post it to IF
if the topic fit in any way, but it doesn't so I didn't.
I tried something different here, alizarine crimson gesso
(which I bought years ago and had never used) instead of white.
The photo of a girl walking her dog that I based this upon was taken last May in Lerici, Italy.

Acrylic paint on a ten by 8 inch board.

Wonderful to see another artwork from you! The alizarine crimson undertones work well adding a warmth which can be smelt and felt on the skin, which provokes 'Italy' to me. Just don't lick your fingers!

I love the crimson glow this has...it's a very nice effect. It makes me think of late afternoon. I also love the boots on the girl...they're "just right"...it's totally a moment captured.

Ummm, those amazing color choices, how they blend to a warm glow.
This is a moment in time, a simple crossing of a street on a summer afternoon; handsome dog, great boots, and a cafe on the other side-perfect.
I love your work!

Love this! I think I'll try the same underpainting because the results are great. The painting is all aglow with good things!
Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comments. (I have family in NH!)

Beautiful. The lines here are exquisite, as are, as always, your ultra-colors. Good to see your work again.

Your paintings have that rational, cool quality, but rather irresistible!

What's holding back the crimson space?
A shell of real; façade of fake?
An unreal girl half turns her face
and hears the sound her friend would make

if he were not himself a prop.
While gravity pretends to hold,
beyond the stage the endless drop
of nothing as the truth unfolds.

And that holds back the crimson space
that only artists could create.
The really empty world we'd face
is black as unimagined fate.
